Course Objectives:
Assist in understanding social psychology
Promote discussion and reflection on the methods commonly used to investigate and study
social psychological principles
Facilitate application of the covered topics to students’ lives, and encourage students to think
about the material with reference to themselves to increase understanding and learning
Grading:
Point Breakdown
Exam 1 60 points (20%)
Exam 2 60 points (20%)
Exam 3 60 points (20%)
Exam 4 (Final) 60 points (20%)
Class Participation 30 points (10%)
Out-of-class Assignment 1 15 points (5%)
Out-of-class Assignment 2 15 points (5%)
Total for course: 300 points (100%)
Exams
There will be a total of four (4) exams in this course, including the non-cumulative final.
Each exam is worth 20% (60 points) of your final grade. The exams will consist of mostly
multiple-choice with some short answer/fill-in-the-blank questions. Further, exams can include
and cover any information from the text, lecture, additional movie/TV clips, and activities from
class. Note: After you take an exam, you may schedule a time to come and look over your exam
with me. Further, on exam day, no more exams will be handed out once the first person to
complete the exam hands in their test and exits the room.
Class Participation
Although class attendance is not required, it is strongly encouraged. Throughout the
semester there will be multiple class activities that require participation; as such, there is a
