How they break up the disorders are in five axis" Axis 1- infant, childhood, and adolescent disorders (anything that is not a personality or mental retardation) (mood disorder) Axis 2- problems with cognitive processes (personality disorders or mental retardation) Axis 3- general medical cognition (diabetes, arthritis, etc) (ex: diabetic but then becomes depressed) Axis 4- psychological or environmental problems (ex: poverty stricken and stressed and depressed) Axis 5- global assessment of a person"s functioning (how they asses how well or not well you can function in society)
