Certain scores (300 or above) associate with risk of illnesses or accidents. Stress and the workplace causes an increase in injuries due to distraction and less caution: college undergraduate stress scale. Lazarus and folkman (1984): hassles scale (rate each item from 0-3 on hassle level) Cause short term illness such as headaches, colds, backaches, etc. 3-5 year olds: being teased but 16-22 year olds: trouble at work or school. Elderly people more affected by going shopping, appointments, and bad weather. Stress and health: frustration: when people are blocked or prevented from achieving a desired goal or fulfilling a perceived need.
