Sypathetic "fight or flight" gets the body prepared to react in times of high stress. Glial cells: make up 90% of cells in the nervous system. Functions include: glial cells insulate, glial is located in the gray matter in the brain, provides nutrients, forms myelin, repairs damage. Peripheral nervous system: neurilemma (schwann"s membrane): extra layer that surrounds the axon and myelin sheath; found only on neurons of the pns. Function: to help damaged nerve fibers to repair themselves.
