Many people like this because it holds people accountable and even if the public doesn"t know each specific thing the legislature votes on they can make sure he will vote in their favor. Others oppose it because sometimes the ideological positions become too ridged and inflexible which leads to no compromise, because if there is compromise the voters will hold them accountable. It doesn"t work in our system because of checks and balances because this leads to divided government. We"re approaching a more responsible party system, however the divide isn"t healthy for the political process, there isn"t much middle ground.
