Document Summary

Drilling laboratory manual for course pe4210 missouri s&t. Titration is a volumetric method used in analytical chemistry. Titration is based on the measurement of the volume of a solution of a known concentration needed to react completely with a certain constituent of unknown concentration in a sample of known volume. The measured addition of a known solution to another until an equivalence point is titration. The reached equivalence point of titration is usually detected visually by noting a change in color of the sample. The change of color is accomplished by the use of an indicator. There is a lot of chemical titration for drilling such as alkalinity, Chloride content, hardness, iron content and methylene blue test (mbt). Alkalinity of mud and filtrate, chloride content and also calcium hardness. The main objective of these chemical titrations is to detect the contamination of drilling fluids. Alkalinity refers to the ability of a solution or a mixture to react with an acid.
