Document Summary

What is temperature: a measure of the sensible heat energy present in the atmosphere and other media, a measure of kinetic energy. Average kinetic energy in a body to its temperature, greater the activity of those particles, greater the temperature. Temperature measured in 3 scales: kelvin, celsius, fahrenheit. Kelvin scale: known as the absolute scale and starts at absolute zero, at absolute 0 all molecular motion ceases, has no negative values, 100 degree k between melt/ freeze point and boil/steam point. Celsius scale: developed by anders celsius in 1742, also known as centigrade scale, 0 degree c= freeze/melt point of water, 100 degree c= boil/steam point of water, absolute zero= -273 degree c. Fahrenheit scale: developed by daniel d. fahrenheit in 1714, boiling point of water 212 degree f, 32 degree f= freeze melt point of water, 100 degree c= boil/steam point of water, absolute zero= -459. 4 degree f.
