Ocs 1005: discuss several different ways in which waves form. Waves begin as disturbances: the energy that causes ocean waves is called the disturbing forces. Waves can be created by wind, the movement of fluids with different densities, air-air interface interactions, air-water interface interactions, and water-water interface interactions. Some waves are generated by tectonic plates shifting on the sea floor, volcanic eruptions, or gravitational pull. The development of internal waves is likely to happen in the pyncocline because of the different layers of rapid changing density. The wave could be two meters high, but not over two meters. This can be proven by the ration 1:7. When this ratio exceeds, the wave will break: calculate the speed (s) in meters per second for deep-water waves with the following characteristics, l=351 meters, t=15 seconds, t=12 seconds, f=0. 125 wave per second. Therefore: s = 1. 56 * 12 = 18. 72 m/s.
