Document Summary

Any living organisms have to be up to the external environment they live in. Energy comes from what we are, water and organic compounds. It takes energy to make them and energy to take them apart. We need phosphorus to build our cheek, bone, shell , and nucleic acids. Every living organism has to get energy from external sources. Two modes of energy: autotrophs (self-feeders because they make their own organic compound [chemical energy] with either light or inorganic energy) They utilize chemical energy by breaking them apart and using their energy to support their functions [respiration]) Two most important chemical reactions on earth: photosynthesis and respiration. If you are an animal, you cannot photosynthesize. Sun gives solar energy that can be taken out by photosynthesizers and convert it to chemical energy. We are always losing energy from one trophic level to the next. The enrgy goes back to space and is recycled.
