I found this answer by taking the distance, 4,000 km, and dividing it by the time, 40 million. By doing that it gives you the rate of movement of the pacific plate. Question 2: magnetic anomaly stripes run parallel and are symmetrically arranged on both sides of the midocean ridge axis.
