Question: winds blowing at the sea surface result in ekman transport, moving near-surface water (~100 m) either to the right (in the northern hemisphere) or to the left (in the southern hemisphere) of the direction of the wind. In the vicinity of a coast, ekman transport would result in coastal upwelling or depending on the wind direction relative to the orientation of the coastline. For the five different cases shown below, indicate the direction of the resulting. Ekman transport (using an arrow), and indicate whether or downwelling would result: northern hemisphere.
