Chapter 1: an introduction to life on earth. Each level has ingredients or components which interact to make something greater than the sum of the parts. Ex: nacl ( sodium chloride ) sodium = solid metal; chlorine = poisonous gas; put them together = table salt. You put a plant in the window, the stem will lean in the direction of the sun. Some reactions are slow and cant be seen.
