Me 3834 fluid mechanics {fall semester, 2016} Fridays 9. 00 11. 00 am in 3290p p. f. 4 hours: introduction to fluid mechanics by fox, mcdonald & Pritchard: 9th edition, john wiley & sons, inc: fluid mechanics by frank white, mcgraw-hill, introduction to fluid mechanics by james fay, mit press. Statics, kinematics, and dynamics of continuum liquids and gases; conservation laws (mass, momentum, energy); integral analysis; differential analysis; dimensional analysis and similarity; internal and external viscous flows; compressible flows. Examination questions may be extracted directly from the textbook. About 10 to 20 homework problems will be assigned every friday. Examinations: three term examinations will be given during the semester (dates: September 15th, october 20th and november 17th) and are scheduled from 7. 30 pm to 10. 30 pm (note the time). A comprehensive final examination will be given as per the final examination schedule (dec 8th from 7. 30 am). All examinations are closed book and closed notes.
