Document Summary
* this summary has been paraphrased, reproduced and/or otherwise extended from the following: Juvinal & marshek, fundamentals of machine component design, wiley,1991. Meriam & kraige, engineering mechanics, vol ii dynamics, wiley, 1992. Waggenspack, yannitell, lsu me faculty, etal 1987-present. In dynamics, as in most engineering applications, an effective strategy for attacking problems is essential. Dynamics is based on application of suprisingly few fundamental tenets and principles but over a wide range of conditions, situations and geometries. Many authorities consider the value of dynamics to be the experience students gain in having to reason from fundamentals as opposed to reciting of memorized solutions! This is one of the greatest challenges students encounter and it cannot be overcome merely through memorizing kinematic and dynamic equations that describe motions or by reviewing solutions prepared by others. The development of good habits in formulating solutions and communicating them efficiently is of inestimable value.
