ME 2733 Chapter : Chapter 12 Summary
Document Summary
Chapter 12 wraps up the design process and discusses things that usually occur near the end of the design process. Such as how to apply for a patent and retiring the product. Design for the environment come together and are concerned with what happens to the product at the end of its useful life. Additional documents and communication are required beyond what was previously collected from the design notebooks of the team members and lists of bills of materials. There is still much to be done to communicate with those downstream in the product"s life. This section briefly describes the types of additional documents that need to be developed and communicated. Quality control (qc) inspections must be completed for incoming raw materials, manufactured components, and assemblies to make sure they comply with the design documentation. If the product is to be regulated by government standards a quality assurance (qa) document must be developed and kept on file.
