Document Summary

Editing, how-to: pace, (speed, how fast to change from shot to shot and how long a shot should be on the screen) no formula. It depends on nature of shots, the content, etc: good starting point: 3 seconds per shot for b-roll, closely related shots should be shorter (audiences will comprehend shots quicker, close-ups: a little shorter than wide shots. Easier to process: it needs to feel right. Don"t let it drag or be chaotic: order of the shots. 1st shot must be an interesting, compelling visual lead. Close- ups tend to be the most interesting and powerful: your last shot should be strong. The last image has the opportunity to resonate and stay in the audience"s mind. An interview in different moments (30 seconds in and 50 seconds in) and putting them together, back-to-back. Have something to bridge it over: cover over the break.
