Learning to read and write is essential to becoming a functioning member of society. Literacy is definitely the most purposeful and necessary tool anyone could hope to learn; however, such a skill is so necessary that the story of how someone becomes literate is usually a very tedious and mediocre narrative. The story of how i became an adept writer started in my kindergarten class. Mrs. stewart was teaching us the spelling and pronunciation of some simple words and even some phrases. However, my teacher soon realized that i was not learning the material as quickly as my classmates. While i was struggling with a very simple phrase, my teacher noticed that i would guess what the words read rather than actually sounding the words out. Mrs. stewart, recognizing the symptoms, called me to her desk and asked me to read a sentence aloud. The aminal lives in the forest, i read, convincing her of my disorder.
