These two make up the zygomatic arch. Temporal bone articulates with the mandible joint. Petrous portion houses sensory organs for hearing and equilibrium. Protects the brain and houses our ossicles. Forms muscle attachment for our jaw and facial muscles. Protect our delicate organs, for smell, taste, etc. Serve as opening/entrance to digestive and respiratory systems. Id the bones from all the different views! Numerous surface markings that aid in their id. 2 parietal bones form much of the sides and roof of the cranial cavity. Forms much of the posterior wall and the posterior floor of the cranial cavity. Occipital condyles on either side form cerviclal vertebrae 1. Obvious bulge on the back of the head just superior to foramen magnum. Helps form inferior and superior n lines. Extend all the way down to c7. Articulates with all the other cranial bones.
