1 the study of structure and relationships among structures (process of cutting) Dissection: cutting apart of body structures to study their relationship (act of cutting) Deals with functions of body parts, how they work. To observe the body for any changes that are not normal. Palpation: (to touch) examiner feels body surfaces with hands. Auscultation: to listen to body sounds to evaluate the functioning of certain organs. To tap on the body surface with fingertips and listen to the resulting echo. Includes atoms (smallest units of matter), & molecules (2 or more atoms joined together) Molecules combine to form cells (structures composed of chemicals & are basic structural & functional units of an organism) Tissues: groups of cells & materials surrounding them to work together to perform a paticular function. Epithelial: covers body surfaces, lines hollow organs & cavities, forms glands. Connective: connects, supports, and protect body organs while distributing blood vessels to other tissues.
