1. discuss the differences between complementary and alternative medicine (cam). List the characteristics of those who use those types of medical approaches. Complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine as a part of a modern integrative-medicine approach. Alternative medicine has a traditionally been used in place of conventional medicine. Cam users seek what they perceive as a more natural, gentle approach to healing. Other cam patients distrust the traditional medical approach and believe that alternative practices will them a greater control over their own health care. I think individuals seek cam because some things can actually be cured without the use of drugs and natural ways of healing cause less side effects and or risks. 2. describe the 4 major categories of cam and give an example of each. Mind-body medicine uses a variety of techniques designed to enhance the mind"s ability to affect bodily function and symptoms. Some good examples of this would be meditation, yoga, dance, music, etc.
