HUEC 1000 Chapter : 01 27 12
Document Summary
All aspects of the human ecosystem are interrelated in that any part of the human ecosystem influences or acts on any other part and is influenced or acted on in return. The subsystems are in continuous interaction with each other. The subsystems provide insight into the human ecological system: individual, world population. Why are more elderly working: increasing demand for labor. Not as many young people to fill jobs: change in social security benefits/rules. Full benefit age change from 65 to 67 in stages beginning in: mandatory retirement ended. Age discrimination act of 1986: defined contribution (dc) plans began to replace defined benefit (db) plans. People control their retirement plans and this is an incentive to work longer: publicity on social security and widely reported bankruptcies of corporations with db plans. How solvent is it: rapid growth of health care costs. Reduction in health coverage for retirees: water supply.
