Us w. hemisphere (largest), great britain, End up destroying a lot of their ships: 4 power treaty. Agree that they will try to maintain their holdings and not expand: 9 power treaty. War clouds: asia, kuomintang (chinese national party, same group that started the boxer rebellion, strongest in s. china and spreads into more n. regions, problem of spreading of nationalism: N. regions conflict with japan, soviet union, etc: railways, factories, etc, begin attacking foreign businesses, manchuria incident, japan invades and occupies manchuria, claim they are liberating manchuria from chinese control.
