Napoleon was known for military conquests; he conquered the european continent. He started the first french empire and was the last french commander. Since napoleon"s ambition was war conquests, he made lots of enemies. He had forced allies: prussia, austria, norway, and denmark. In 1806 napoleon crushed prussia in a battle which created tension. He forces people to fight for him and the people living in napoleon occupied places to pay for his soldiers. Because britain is an island, napoleon believes they are free and that he could beat their land army, but the british navy protects britain very well. 1805 battle of trafalgar was a failed attempt by napoleon to defeat the british navy. Nelson, who had previously lost an arm in battle, dies in this battle. Napoleon went back to france and created the continental system-anywhere napoleon was allied with could not trade with britain.
