General education humanities course: hist 1001 can be used to meet three hours toward the general. See the lsu general catalog and your curriculum advisor for your degree requirements. Students will also develop competency in critical thinking, the ability to evaluate a position or argument, and competency in written communication. Course requirements: this course covers a broad swath of western history from the emergence of human civilization to 1500. This class is primarily a lecture class so class attendance is highly encouraged. This class will have two100-point exams, 4-25 point quizzes, and one 150-point final exam. The exams will come primarily from the lectures and assigned readings.
