Egypt is very arid with very little rainfall. Lower egypt is actually in the north (low lands around the delta) Crops grown in egypt: grain wheat barley flax. Papyrus- grows naturally along the banks of river, stalks are used for writing surface. Only way to attack would be via delta. Divine kingship- kings claim to be gods b/c they relate themselves to being able to bring flood waters. If taking a journey in egypt you would need a boat. Burials would be full of many possessions and the kings would be buried in the pyramid with them so there would be grave robberies. Egyptian writings: papyrus scroll, pictographs, egyptian book of the dead has details about preparing a body for mummification and burial. Even the kings get judged at death, they say the heart gets weighed against a feather, if their heart is too heavy it is said that they don"t get to continue to where the other kings are.
