Ideas, trends and institutions in western civilization from earliest times to the reformation. This course provides a survey of western civilization from its origins to approximately 1500 ad. The focus of this course is the social, cultural, religious, and political history of the period as revealed by a careful reading of primary sources, the textbook, and by attending lectures.
