Document Summary

Liquid gas element molecules density gas laws boyle"s law. What is matter: anything that takes up space-has mass and volume. Different forms or phases of matter: solid, liquids, gases. Atom-basic unit of matter: protons, neutrons, and electrons. Element: atoms having the same chemical properties, same # of protons, e. g. , hydrogen (h) and oxygen (o) A sunstance that resists changes of shape and volume, characterized by order or bonding to form a structure. Sunstances that flow freely in response to unbalanced forces. Molecules move freely past one another as individuals or small groups. Weight= force of gravity on an object (lb) For example: an object with a mass of 1 kg on earth is still 1 kg on the moon, but weights 1/6 as much (different gravity on the moon) Ice is less dense bc floats in water. Matter-gas: substances that expand easily, rapidly, and indefinitely, filling all available space, and taking the shape of its container.
