Until ego is completely gone, you"re really not in love: act 3, scene 2, line 75: absolute high point of the play: we"ve got benedick because ego is a way of protecting oneself. To be in love, you have to be completely exposed. and beatrice going down their road and claudio and hero are happy. Don john to screw it all up: admission of love is a release of ego. Acts 3 & 4: everyone has some sort of ego that needs to be broken down, claudio is not the man that he appeared to be at the beginning of the play.
