In the time of the civil rights movement, many people were advocating peaceful protests so that nobody else would have to lose their lives for the cause. I can understand that being suppressed and discriminated against for so long can take its. H: toll on even the most peaceful person. Although, leon hasn"t been through near as much prejudice as those before him, he has heard stories that kindled a fire of hate inside him. It is understandable the hate that he feels against the people who believe they are superior to his race. Leon is young and doesn"t fully understand that violence will only hinder the progress made by others who want the same thing. Also, he doesn"t realize that he would basically be doing the same thing as other racist groups that he has so much animosity towards.
