Document Summary
Growing up in a neighborhood with nearly all boys, reading and writing was the last thing on my mind. Summer time was filled with late night games of flashlight tag and ramping poorly built bike jumps. Even into high school, i never seemed to really grow out of the neighborhood gang stage, and to this day, i still keep up with the guys whom i grew up with in the neighborhood, for the most part. However, there was one particular friend out of that group whom i had lost connections with. Jack and i ended up going to different high schools and never really spent much time together after our childhood days growing up. On the tragic day that was august 25th, 2013, i knew i had to find a unique way to express my thoughts and emotions. Writing became my outlet leading to a deep appreciation of the power of writing and literacy.
