Catalogues: lists all books, periodicals, and other resources in library, many different computer systems for library catalogues; search for book sby title, author, subject or keyword; tells you if its available or checked out. Use call number to find right section of the shelves/stacks. Databases: helps locate articles in thousands of publications; just type subject in search box. Reference works: located in the reference section; contains books, encyclopedias, biographical aids, ect. ; saves you time compared to searching through library catalogue. Librarian: don"t be afraid to ask questions such about locating sources. Check abstracts for quick summary of article; never cite summary, always read article. 3 major databases: proquest, lexisnexis, world new connection. Academic databases: research/works related to every aspect of the world and society. Internet has the most information, however it might not be the best information.
