The use of both human and animal subjects in experimental procedures has come under increasing scrutiny. The tuskegee and milgram experiments should be studied in an effort to prevent such mistreatment from occurring again in the future. The tuskegee experiment knowingly exposed participants to imminent risk by failing to treat their disease. The participants in this experiment were not informed of the procedures or experiment being conducted. In contrast, the participants in the milgram research gave informed consent to be participants in the procedures (kraska & neuman, 2008). However, they were still exposed to psychological risk.
