Document Summary
Qualitative research, as a whole is not considered to be valid because of is preparedness, or lack there of. Qualitative research could be considered valid if the researchers take accurate steps when attempting to accurately fulfill their studies. In order to have a precise study, there needs to be an accurate system of checks and balances. Qualitative research methods usually conduct their studies through several methods. It is not unusual to use a combination of different studies and interviews. This might be the result of different angles of the same research, or a need to corroborate an account with other sources of data. Regardless of the reasons, the use of multiple research methods needs to be considered in order to corroborate data sources and test the validity (or reliability) of the research. It is essential that the validity addresses whether the research explains or measures what was said to be measured or explained.
