Catalog description: marine biology; ecology of benthic, planktonic, nektonic, estuarine, coral and deep-sea communities; emphasis on louisiana"s coastal environment and human impacts on the sea. Exams, quizzes and grading: four hourly exams and a comprehensive final will be given. Three of the hourly exams, each worth 100 points, will be given during the semester (dates are listed below). The final is scheduled for thursday, december 12, 3 -5:00pm. In addition, a maximum of 40 points will be available from at least 20 in-class quizzes (given using clickers ) given during the semester. You should purchase and have your clicker registered as soon as possible. Quizzes will be based on in-class discussions of the lecture material and credit will be available only to students who attend that class period. A, b, c, letter grades will based on a 90, 80, 70 % scale from the possible 500 points available.
