Document Summary

When the amino acid is not attached, the trna is uncharged: ribosomal rna (rrna)- an rna transcript that combines with proteins to form a ribosome. This is called the template strand: transcription starts at a promoter. Sigma helps the core enzyme locate the promoter; therefore there are multiple sigma factors. Rho-dependent termination: the rho factor binds to the mrna to get to the polymerase. It breaks down the polymerase and the mrna off of the dna. Rho-independent termination: a series of uracils downstream of pause site (gc rich sequence) Mrna has a half life of 1-3 minutes: eukaryotes don"t have sigma factors. They have transcription factors that help eukaryotic rna polymerases bind to promoters: have 3 rna polymerases: i,ii, and iii, transcription occurs in the nucleus, if a cell has a nucleus. These nucleotides form triplets called codons: more than 1 codon can encode the same amino acid. Aug= start codon: elongation- addition of new amino acids.
