Document Summary
Descent with modification: a darwinism view of life. Evolution: two main ideas: change over time of the genetic composition of a population, decent of modern organisms with modification from preexisting organisms. Evolutionary adaptation: accumulation of inherited characteristics that enhance organisms ability to survive in specific environments. Darwin and wallace: developed the theory independently. The unequal survival and reproduction of organisms due to environmental forces, resulting in the preservation of favorable adaptations. Process selects from what is available in the gene pool. Organisms produce more offspring than the environment can support. Because of this, the individuals that are better suited for the environment tend to survive more and therefore they leave more of their offspring in the environment. Over time, the heritable traits of survived organisms are naturally selected for.
