Racial issues in the us are exploitation of other white classes. (example) conflict over resources (what is held valuable by that society) Durkheim- a true sociologist, noticed social cohesion (groups in a social setting stick together, their a number of things that make people stick together tho) functionalism everything that happens in society performs a function of. Manifest functions- functions that are obvious and easy for us to see collective conscience some sort (basic education) latent functions- hidden functions that we may not easily notice (socially acceptable actions)
