Document Summary

In supernovae : when core collapses and hits density of neutron star makes shock wave, it drives things out to space and cause neuclear recations and makes gold, etc. Low mass stars do this: asymptotic giant branch star produces a big fluffy thing, and leaves behind a planetary nebula star at center of the planetary nebula is white dwarfs. High mass stars do this: red supergiant star produces a supernovae remnant and leaves behind neutron star or black hole in the center of the supernovae remnant. Best way to study supernovae remnant is with an xray telescope. The crab nebula is a guest star that is brighter than venus. Gum nebula first went off as bright as quarter moon; covers 40 degrees on the sky, with radius of 1000 light years. Supernova has luminosity of a billion times the sun 10^9. At 5 light years supernova is % of brightness of the sun.
