Types: toucans have a very gentle beak for fruit eating. Lungs paired, not lobulated like mammals: no diaphragm. If a wing is broken, cannot give anesthesia orally, must inject into air sacks. The reproductive system: males have 2 internal testes, mating = cloacal contact between male and female for sperm transfer, females, only left ovary and oviduct are functional, eggs laid even if not fertilized, eggs pass through cloaca. Bird nutrition: bird weight primary indicator of bird health, base diet: start with a quality dry mix, fruits, vegetables (including leafy greens), fortified seeds, nuts, avoid milk and grains. Iceberg lettuce and pale greens low nutritional value. Avaries - 2057, space, great for areas with mild winters.
