ACCT 2000 Chapter : Birth Of Christianity
Document Summary
If we estimate the portion of an average day spent inside some sort of enclosing space, we will probably find we typically spend about 90 percent of our time inside, with only 10 percent outside. Any enclosure serves several basic purposes: it protects us against the weather; it provides privacy; it gives us places where we can keep the things we need in some more or less convenient relationship. The design professions began to take from in the renaissance as strictly traditional practices yielded to a more personal way of thinking about design of every sort. Modern industrial society has added tremendous technical complications, both in the nature of buildings themselves and in the variety of specialized purposes that building are expected to serve. The primary motivation for building is sometimes the quick profit rather than any concern for real use over a longer term.
