Waiting line theory (queuing: used in the design of a service delivery system. Continuous transformation process: commonly used to produce highly standardized outputs. Continuous process: constitutes half of that manufacturing industry in the us. Continuous process: end product is not naturally divisible. Overlapping: everyone working on all the required tasks simultaneously. Paced line: uses some sort of conveyor and moves the output along at a continuous rate, and operators do their work as the output passes them. Cycle time = available work time/demand: determined from the required output rate. Important: absolutely necessary, especially important, ordinary closeness ok, unimportant, undesirable.
