Premature rupture of membranes: rupture of the chorioamniotic membranes. Prolonged rupture of membranes: greater than 24 hours. Latency: the time frame from membrane reupture to delivery. Previable prom: rupture of membranes before 23-24 weeks. Preterm prom remote from term: is from 24-32 weeks gestation. Preterm prom near term is 31-36 weeks gestation.
