Draws on a greater knowledge base- can be more comprehensive and more accurate than a single author document. Draws on a greater skill base- one person can"t be an expert manager, writer, editor, graphic artist, and producer. Provides a better idea of how the audience will read the document- each collaborator acts as an audience: offer more questions and suggestions than one person. Improves communication among employees- employees that share a goal learn about each other"s positions, responsibilities, and frustrations. Helps acclimate new employees to an organization- learn how things work, which people to see, which forms to fill out, what the organization values. Motivates employees to help an organization grow- the organization benefits from experienced employees mentoring new employees. Takes more time than individual writing- needed added time for collaborators to meet: meetings can be difficult to schedule. Can lead to groupthink- collaborators value getting along more than critical thinking: groupthink- promotes conformity, can result in inferior documents.
