Sherman anti trust act enforces by doj, ftc, and individuals harmed (any business that"s already heavily regulated already exempt under sherman anti trust act i. e. comms. , utitilites, transportation) Section 1 -prohibits contracts, combinations, conspiracies as a result of collusion or acting in concert that restrain trade illegal. Section 2 -outlaws both monopolies and attempts to monopolize. Failure to comply w. either section is a criminal violation and subjects the offender to find or imprisonment or both. The sherman act subjects individual offenders to imprisonment of up to ten years and fines of up to 1 million. Maximum fine may be increased to twice the amount the conspirators gained from illegal acts or twice the money lost by victims of the crime if either amount above 100 million. Act empowers federal district courts to issue injunctions restraining violations and anyone injured by a violation entitled to recover in a civil action treble damages. Three times amount of actual loss sustained.
