The socialization of children and values in their society. Socialization : the process through which children learn norms. Done by families, cultural contexts, religion, region, race. Also entail guidance on how to act and can therefore cause deviance. Children of blended families (half siblings and step siblings) and intact cohabiting families (divorced families living together) are the most antisocial. Nuclear families (2 married parents, no half or step siblings) were far more prosocial. Children are easier kept away from bad peers. When parents are around is also key - two parents are no better than one if they are gone at the same times. Parents who work night shift more delinquency and less family bonding. Mother with untraditional hours + father with traditional hours = less delinquency.
