Social influence: process through which the real or implied presence of others can directly or indirectly influence the thoughts, feelings, and behaviour from an individual parents, friends. Conformity: changing one"s own behaviour to match that of other people (standing in the hall ex. ) Groupthink: people are more concerned about the social harmony of the group than they are within making decisions. Deindividuation: mob mentality: focus in on what the group is doing; what would people do if their being was not associated; becoming absorbed in what is going on around you. Social facilitation: positive influence of others on performance. Social impairment: negative influence of others on performance. Social loafing: the one person in a group who does not carry his weight. Door in the face technique ask someone for a huge favor; and then ask for a smaller favor the one they actually wanted. Lowball get a commitment from someone more of the taken for granted.
