Development advances from primary to secondary circular reactions: reactions that extend beyond the infant"s body. Stages 5 and 6: tertiary circular reactions. Tertiary circular reactions begin when 1-year-olds take independent actions to discover the properties of other people, animals, and things. Infants will no longer respond only to their own bodies (primary reactions) or to other people/objects (secondary reactions) Lasts only a month and includes senses and well as motor reflexes.
