Questions: m&w malinowski and radcliffe-brown: identify and discuss what you think are the most interesting ideas in each of these articles (requires two separate responses, call them 1a and 1b). What i found myself most intrigued by in article 1a (malinowski) was the way in which he addressed previous conceptions of primitive" society mechanisms, people, and functions. In article 1b i was most interested in the way in which radcliffe-brown is describing. Everyone is going to have conjunction and disjunction with everybody else. In particular, address the way each author treats the role of the individual and who each author appears to have been influenced by in the creation of their perspective. Each of them seem to wish to, or at least as a consequence of their various perspectives, remove the individual from the equation of societal functions and instead only look at the functions themselves.
