Kap = knowledge, attitude, practice: a predetermined set of questions to a randomly selected group. Usually very rigid with the order/wording of questions, with precoded answer choices: has been shown to have misleading results when used in developing countries. In developing countries, usually a sampling frame (= a list of population from which a sample can be drawn) is not available: not using a random sample can cause logistical problems. Usually the people selected to be part of the survey live in remote areas, often also having language differences. Lack of modern technologies, like stable electricity, make it dif cult for data entry on the eld. Nding staff who can communicate, can translate, and has certain technical skills is also dif cult: interviewer biases. Social norms that differ between the interviewer and the interviewee can make it dif cult to have unbiased responses: differences in things like age, gender, religion, etc. can all impact how people respond.
