Anniversary of hysteria and concluded that hysteria is not a pathological phenomenon and may be considered a supreme means of expression. Two terms can be used to define hysteria of the 19th century: thought and love. Hysteria was the illness of the century at the end of the 1800s. Mental illness reached its new vision in the 19th century after the world of phillipe pinel who liberated lunatics from their chains . Psyche illnesses began to be viewed as arising from critical situations in one"s personal life. There became more and more cases of hysteria. Misogyny reached a high point at this time, as men continued to play a dominant role in the family and society and women became more oppressed and hidden. Hysteria was a form of rebellion against the familial mentalities at the time. Became seen as a means of expression used in many novels.
